5th storey: temple 5E

The eastern temple is devoted to rNam par snang mdzad (Vairocana) and has a statue of rNam par snang mdzad (Vairocana) in its center at the W-wall (gr.pl.No. 1). Vairocana is sitting in Vajrāsana and displaying the samādhimudrā. W-wall, left of the throne: Painted Vajradhātucaturmudrāmaṇḍala, Vajrakulamūlamaṇḍala and Vajrakuladhāraṇīmaṇḍala (gr.pl.No. 2); N-wall: Vajradhātumahāmaṇḍala, surrounded by the caturmudrāmaṇḍalas of the Four Families (gr.pl.No. 3); E-wall, right of the entrance: Painted Vajradhātudhāraṇīmaṇḍala and Vajradhātudharmamaṇḍala (gr.pl.No. 4); E-wall, above the entrance door: Painted Vajradhātukarmamaṇḍala (gr.pl.No. 5); E-wall, left of the entrance: Painted Trailokyavijayadhāraṇīmaṇḍala and Trailokyavijayadharmamaṇḍala (gr.pl.No. 6); S-wall: Painted Trailokyavijayamahāmaṇḍala, surmounted by the Vairocanacaturmudrāmaṇḍala and the Vajrahūṃkāracaturmudrāmaṇḍala from the same section. (gr.pl.No. 7); W-wall, right of the throne: Vajradhātvekamudrāmaṇḍala, the Vajrakulakarmamaṇḍala and the Vajrakuladharmamaṇḍala (gr.pl.No. 8). The maṇḍalas are drawn from the 1st and 2nd section of the Tattvasaṃgraha, according to the explanations given by Bu ston. [Lo Bue and Ricca 1990, p. 144/Lo Bue and Ricca 1993, p. 305].
