4th storey: chapel 4N2

Chapel devoted to the Great Buddhist Kings of Tibet, placed in the W-section of the N-projection of the fourth floor. S-wall: Khri Srong brtsan sgam po (center, reg 629?-649) (groundplan No. 1), Khri srong lde brtsan (right, reg 755-797) (groundplan No. 1a) and Khri gTsug lde brtsan (Ral pa can, left, reg 815-838) (groundplan No. 1a’). The triad is flanked, by the two more famous wives of Srong brtsan sgam po: Bhṛkuṭī Devī, the Newar consort (groundplan No. 1b), and lHa gcig Wun shing Kong jo, the Chinese consort (groundplan No. 1b’); beside them Thon myi ’Bring po rgyal btsan nu (Thon mi Sambhoṭa) (groundplan No. 1c) and mGar sTong rtsan (?-667) (groundplan No. 1c’). W-wall: Painted Pho brang Zhi ba ’od, surrounded by the kings of Western Tibet (groundplan No. 2). N-wall: Painted with a large figure bearing the name Khri btsan po in a caption below it (groundplan No. 3); Painted Thon mi Sambhoṭa and mGar sTong rtsan (groundplan No. 4); E-wall: Painted rJe gNya’ khri btsan po, the first Tibetan king (center), surrounded by the kings of the Yar klungs dynasty (groundplan No. 5).
