Description after Linrothe: Type of Object: painted clay sculpture;
Materials & Techniques: mold-made clay sculpture, then painted, inlaid with turquoise, amber (?) and coral;
Measurements: 48 x 31 x 21 cm;
Distinguishing Features: Has an ink-drawing on paper of a tiger-riding monk-protector (rdor rje legs pa) glued to the back of the pedestal; crown of Buddha is broken;
Title: Crowned Buddha;
Subject: Seated crowned Buddha making bhumisparśa mudra; wears bejeweled shawl over monk’s robe, symbol of universal spiritual sovereignty;
Date or Period: ca. 19th c. following an earlier (16th century Ming?) mold-pattern;
Where Kept: gzim chung chung ba hall.
